Choose Ohio First Success in Math Scholarship
Description:
Choose Ohio First Scholarships will annually provide about 20 undergraduate scholarships, varying in size between $1,500 and $4,700 a year (depending on financial need), to promising incoming STEM students who intend to take a Calculus sequence (Math 12002, Math 12003, Math 22005 or approved substitutes) and a Linear Algebra course (Math 21001 or approved substitutes) during their studies. In order to qualify for the scholarship, students should be ready to take Calculus I or higher in their first semester at Kent. A student is considered ready to take Calculus if they have a Math ACT score of at least 27 or Math SAT score of 620 or above. The scholarship is available for permanent US residents residing in Ohio. We will be adding scholars to two existing cohorts so applications from current freshmen and sophomores are also welcome. Current Kent students are encouraged to contact Jenya Soprunova at soprunova@math.kent.edu if they think they qualify. Starting scholarship in Spring 2012 is an option. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and could be awarded before the deadline.
