Post-Undergraduate and Graduate Non-Degree Students

Federal Direct student loans are available to Post-Undergraduate and Graduate Non-Degree students who will be enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) in:
   1) an elementary or secondary teacher certification/licensure program,
   2) enrolled in a second degree program for which the student will receive a second Bachelor's degree,
   3) enrolled in an Associate’s degree or
   4) enrolled in prerequisite course work required for admission to a graduate or professional program.

In order to be eligible for federal student loans, students must maintain a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA, complete a minimum of 75% of the total hours attempted each year, and have not reached the Direct Loan aggregate limit for undergraduate students.

A student with a Bachelor's degree, who is completing course work for a second undergraduate major for which he or she will not receive a second Bachelor's degree, is not eligible for any federal financial aid. Post-Undergraduate and Graduate Non-Degree students completing prerequisites for graduate or professional programs are limited to one year of eligibility for Federal Direct student loans.

In order to be considered for federal student loan programs, submit the Program of Study Form (located at www.sfa.kent.edu under Forms/Apps), completed by one of the academic advisors listed below. Once this information is received, administrators in the Student Financial Aid Office will determine whether your program of study complies with the regulations governing federal student loan programs.

The following academic personnel should be contacted for the required academic advisor signature on the Program of Study Form. Students taking pre-requisites for graduate or professional work should contact their Graduate Coordinator.
