Parents who are interested in borrowing the Parent PLUS Loan must complete the Federal Direct Parent PLUS Pre-Application and submit it to the Student Financial Aid Office prior to completing the Parent PLUS electronic Master Promissory Note. Click here to download the PLUS Pre-Application.

This information was prepared for parents whose dependent student has been awarded a Parent PLUS loan and the parent does not have a valid PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN) on file with the Department of Education.

Electronic Signatures... EASY as 1, 2, 3
In order for the PLUS funds to transfer to the student account, the parent must sign the PLUS Master Promissory Note (no student signature is required on the Parent PLUS). The PLUS MPN is a promissory note that can be used to borrow one or more PLUS loans for one or more academic years (up to 10 years) for one dependent student. Follow these EASY as 1, 2, 3 steps.

#1	KNOW YOUR PIN - Your Department of Education Personal Identification Number (PIN) allows the parent borrower to electronically sign your Master Promissory Note (eMPN) and access other U.S. Department of Education records. If you do not know your PIN, visit the PIN website at www.pin.ed.gov

#2	KNOW YOUR STUDENT INFORMATION - You will need to provide your dependent student’s social security number, date of birth, and select the school.

#3	ELECTRONICALLY SIGN YOUR eMPN - Access the eMPN website at http://dlenote.ed.gov and follow the simple steps to complete the MPN for Parent PLUS loans.
